Agde is a very cool city in the south of France.
It happens to be the place where my parents are currently retreated, and it happens to be a very good place to have summer vacations.

From left to right, my beloved parents, my sister, and me. My own concept of a family is summarized in this picture.

Some comments about the Canal du Midi for the English readers (because unfortunately the links above are only in French): the canal is a navigable way that links Toulouse to the Thau pond over a distance of 240 km (150 miles). It was open in 1681, allowing for transportation of merchandise and passengers. It played a very important role in the development of the south of France, since it actually links the Mediteranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. The whole project was engineered and build by Pierre-Paul Riquet, whom had to come with very innotivate ideas to deal with the complicated relief of the south, and more especially with the water supply of the canal, a scare resource there.
The canal counts a number of important structures (328 structures, including 64 locks, 54 aqueducs, 7 canal-briges) and is classified by the Unesco. Agde owns one of these unique structures: a "round" lock with 3 entries/exists, 2 on the canal and one to go to the Hérault river and the sea.

The canal-brige goes 45 feet over the Bézier's river. It arrives directly at the begining of the 7 locks of Fontséranes. A canal-brige is a kind of aqueduc which purpose is to cross a river without mixing the waters, thus avoiding problems with floods or droughts.

The Saint-Etienne cathedral at Agde.

La cathédrale Saint-Etienne à Agde.

The cathedral is fortified, which shows the large number of conflicts that occured along its history.
